Al Knight-Blaine is a lighting designer in dance, performance art, theatre, and music, based in Portland, OR.   He is the resident designer for Night Flight Aerial and Open Space Dance, and the head of lighting at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art.

 Recent work includes Fright Night and Sea of Dreams with Night Flight Aerial, The NotCrakcer with Open Space Dance, Allie Hankins's series By My Own Hand, Angry Raucous and Shamelessly Gorgeous at Portland Playhouse, Something Rotten at Lakewood Theatre (OTAS award winner), and Camelot at Lakewood Theatre (OTAS award winner). He is the mainstage lighting liaison for the annual  State Festival with Oregon Thespians.


In addition to his design work, Al works for Outlaw Lighting, and has worked as master electrician for many companies around the Portland area.  


Al graduated from the Oregon Center for the Arts and the Honors College at Southern Oregon University in 2020, earning a BFA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Lighting Design, and minors in Mathematics and Applied Statistics.
