Allison Knight-Blaine is a lighting designer in dance, performance art, theatre, and music, based in Portland, OR. He is the resident designer for companies including Open Space Dance, and Halcyon Shows, and is the head of lighting at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art.
Recent designs include Sea of Dreams with Night Flight Aerial, The NotCrakcer with Open Space Dance, parts I and II of Allie Hankins's series By My Own Hand, Chicken and Biscuits at Portland Playhouse, Something Rotten at Lakewood Theatre (OTAS award winner), Camelot at Lakewood Theatre (OTAS award winner), and The Winter's Tale with Portland Shakespeare Project.
In addition to his design work, Al works for Outlaw Lighting, and has worked as a lead electrician for several companies around the Portland area. He loves working with students, and is the lighting liaison for the annual Oregon State Thespian Festival.
Al graduated from the Honors College at Southern Oregon University in 2020, earning a BFA in Theatre Arts with an emphasis in Lighting Design, and minors in Mathematics and Applied Statistics.
